A Chinese Rootwood brush pot, Bitong, Qing Dynasty, 18th/19th century, the gnarled wood is enhanced by a thin layer of tortoiseshell lacquer, the base of the bitong is closed by a contrasting wood skillfully fitted. Provenance: acquired in Tianjian in early 1990s. Height 13.5 cm. Diameter 15 cm
