Description:
Fuller's spiral cylindrical slide rule by W.F. Stanley consisting of an outer wooden cylinder that slides up & down & rotates. Two brass rings lined with felt are inside this cylinder. the cylinder is covered with paper marked with a single spiral logarithmic scale graduated into seven thousand two hundred & fifty parts & having a length, according to the maker, of 500 inches. Inside the outer cylinder is a longer wooden cylinder, covered with paper marked with decimal, conversion & sine tables. a solid timber handle is at one end, a third cylinder of brass is inside the instrument, with a key to the box in its original envelop, the original wooden box & brass-mounting bracket are included as is the original set of written instructions dated 1907. the outer, sliding cylinder is marked near the top, 'Fullers Spiral Slide Rule'. Near the bottom is marked: 'Entd. Stats. Hall; Stanley, Maker, London. The bottom is stamped: 3070. the top of the long brass index is engraved: 3070 (/) 11. In a rectangular wooden case, a grey sticker attached to the inside lid of the case reads: 'Stanley, Great Turnstile London England'. The inside of the lid also has a sticker that reads 'Turner and Henderson, Booksellers, Printers Stationers, Hunter Street, Sydney'. On the inside in red pencil is the written pounds '2-0-0'. Condition good, general age related wear length of box 45 cm
