A set of brass and steel Beam scales on a mahogany base by Degrave, short & Fanner, London, circa 1870 with a turned brass standard and lever enabling the steel beam to be raised and the two pans suspended in order to determine the weight of an unknown quantity, above a single drawer mahogany compartment housing weights, the lever stamped Degrave / short & Fanner / London, the beam stamped Degrave & Co London, (loss to the right hand corner of the drawer), 57 x 42 cm
