A 20th century taiaha with kaka feather and simulated hair collar. Provenance: Collection G.J Grace, gifted to Grace c.1968 from Hannah Nicholas (Te Atiawa), the collar made by Grace from kaka feathers found as the complete filling of a mattress from an early colonist's house on Herald Island, upper Waitemata Harbour; half the feathers given to Rangimaire Hetet, half retained by Grace.
