A Victorian Parian bread plate, of traditional oval form, the outer rim decorated with wheat and the proverb 'Give us this day our daily bread'. Length 33 cm. Note: The white colouring of Parian ware porcelain imitates the marble quarried from the Greek island of Paros. Subjects that were frequently represented in busts and figurines are Greek and Roman gods and goddesses, angels, and well known personalities such as members of the royal family.
