Description:
An 18th/19th century Dehua porcelain (Blanc de Chine) vase, of uncommon highly restrained rouleau shape with two incipient lion mask handles issuing from the sides; further subtle decoration of a frieze of square fret scroll design forms an encircling band at handle height. The slightly tapering cylindrical shape curves at the shoulder to form a small mouth and is cut at the foot to form a foot ring clear of glaze; the milk-white glaze pools to a small degree inside the foot ring and displays a pale green hue. Raised on a huangyangmu wood stand of light amber colour, of ring form raised on four sections with open mouths raised upon eight small feet (one absent). Height excluding stand 19.5 cm. In associated timber storage box with fitted interior.
