Sentenced to Be Transported For Life, January 1852 printed Statement of charges against James Parr, completed in manuscript at New Norfolk, Van Diemen's Land, for stealing and feloniously killing 'one sheep of the price of seven shillings...'; signed by Valentine Fleming, Attorney General of Van Diemen's Land. The pen manuscript notation on reverse reads 'Verdict Guilty. Sentence: To be transported for Life'. Parr had been transported for an earlier scrape with the law, leaving England in July 1844 as one of the 345 convicts aboard the Sir George Seymour, to begin his seven year sentence. He must have just completed his time when apprehended with the sheep.
