Cedar daybed, c1825, most likely from the workshop of Shaughnessy who was noted for making furniture of this quality & style. Extremely rare of sleigh shape with the low end scrolling in & the high end scrolling out in true Regency fashion. Note an advertisement from the Monitor (Sydney) 19th May 1826 'Hair bottomed sofa's & sofa tables to match on the Grecian principle'. An unusual feature of this sofa is that the bottom rail is 2 inches higher than the standard sofa. Height 93 cm, width 218 cm, depth 64 cm
