An unusual Maori taiaha. C. 1880s, with anchor and rope motif carved on both sides Discovered in Fiji in the 1960s and brought to New Zealand by the vendor's grandfather. Most likely taken to Fiji by a Maori working on the American whaling ships out of Russell. Damaged and joined. Length 148 cm
