Description:
A Chinese enamelled bottle-shaped vase, Signed Shi Yuchu (1090-1972), Republic period, painted with two butterflies flying about a field of daisies, with stand and box, 16.5 cm high. Provenance: Ex K. Y. Fine Art Exhibited: Lot 21, Innovation and Continuity: 20th century Chinese Ceramics, Asian Arts Institute of Australia, October 2012 Note: This vase attributed to Shi Yuchu is a good example of the continuity or transmission of skills from one generation of painters to the next. Pan Taoyu taught Liu Yucen, one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan in the Jiangxi Porcelain Factory School. He in turn taught Shi Yuchu who taught painting in Jingdezhen in the early years of the People's Republic of China
