A Japanese Sumida vase, Meiji period (1868-1912), mark of Ryozan, of squat shape bulging below the rim, horizontally-ribbed, cream, brown, green, and speckled blue glazes falling unevenly from the rim over the red ground, two figures applied in relief to one side of the body, blue-painted mark on a tablet applied to the body.
