Description:
Matched pair of cased Tranter Revolvers circa 1858. Triple action 3rd model Dragoon .44 (54 bore) calibre revolvers finished in polished steel and finely engraved. The scroll engraving extends to the action, barrel, trigger guard, back strap, grip cap and rammer. On the top of the frame of each is engraved B. Cogswell 224 Strand, London. The checkering on the grips is superb. Both pistols have the same serial No. 3278T which is most unusual - however one pistol has number 23 on the rammer and trigger and the other has number 24. Revolvers such as these are rarely seen in such exquisite condition. Both revolvers are contained in an original red velvet lined French fitted case with the following accessories - cleaning rod, nipple key, five nipples and powder flask (which is not original). The bullet mould is missing. The owner indicates that the revolvers were purchased in Poland after the communist collapse.
