A Vintage Finn Juhl 'Model 137' Sofa by France & Son in a teak frame and re-upholstered khaki leather with raised brass mounts to float the seat. France & Son label to base. Original retailers 'John Stuart Inc. Grand Rapids New York' label to base, designed in 1953. The 137 Model sofa is a perfect example of Finn Juhl's signature style. Also known as the 'Japanese Model', it was inspired by a 6th century shrine constructed partially over water on Itsukushima Island. John Stuart Inc. was New York's premier modern design showroom and distributer of France & Son
