Antique Chinese lacquer ginger jar (with lid) constructed on a metal base, deeply carved with floral motifs and a mountain pagoda scene. The base bearing a gilded six character Ming dynasty Jiajing reign mark (1522–1566). The date of manufacture is uncertain, possibly 18th century Qianlong reign period. Comes with an old hardwood display stand. Some expected relatively minor signs of wear and use. Note: the underside of the base appears to have sustained some restoration, not extending through to the inside. Close examination reveals the faint outline of a previous (Jiajing) mark partially seen beneath the later gilded mark. Height (excluding stand) 16 cm.
