An antique gem-set butterfly brooch, circa 1880, modelled as a butterfly, the pierced bi-coloured wings mounted with rose-cut dimonds, half-pearls, circular-cut rubies and sapphires, the body decorated with a central sapphire collet and pearls, accented by ruby eyes and diamond-set antennae, mounted in silver and gold, pearls untested, sapphires approximately 1.20 carats total, rubies approximately 0.80 carat total, width 4.8 cm
