An important neo Gothic mahogany breakfront library bookcase Strawberry Hill, London, 19th century three sectional, the stepped cornice above a pendant and blind fret carved frieze, with two central doors flanked by a further two doors, each astragal glazed with Gothic arch tracery and a pierced brass grill to the lower section, raised on a plinth base, 302 x 299 x 57 cm. Note: the bookcase was designed to be in keeping with the neo Gothic taste, employed by Horace Walpole for the re-building and decoration of his villa so named Strawberry Hill, London in the mid 18th century.
