Description:
A Belleek First Period black mark 'Dragons' pot with Cover the squat circular form and cover with a chevron textured surface in low relief, the pot with two applied side lugs in the shape of moulded crested dragons heads, painted in mauves and blues with gilded effects, each with bronze-brown painted spread wings, gilded scales, front legs and claws. Behind each head is a porcelain applied vertical ring to take a cane handle which is absent, the cover with a moulded finial in the shape of an coolie's pig-tailed head and upper torso, his arms outstretched upon the cover's surface. Note; the cover with an inner securing lug absent, the head and part of the pig tail rejoined. Black First Period Belleek mark, raised registration diamond, the inner pot rim with '23' impressed. Width 28.5 cm. Height 14 cm
