An extremely decorative 19th century Syrian hinged lidded trunk with fine all-over patterned bone inlay with satinwood stringing, the top with three conjoined rondels, including multiple star and other forms and with scattered motifs and fine diamond and scroll borders, the front with three panels, the sides with conforming decoration, the hinged lid enclosing a partial fitted interior with drawers and lids, all finely inlaid and with patterned red silk lining. 129.5 x 56 x 56 cm some old repair and minor losses
