An important Muller Freres table lamp, signed 'Muller Freres Luneville.' c. 1910, this exquisite lamp is a fine example of the calibre of design and execution that made the Muller Freres Company great, the rose pattern featured on this piece was created with a novel acid-etching process for which the Muller Freres name is known, established in Luneville, France, Muller Freres was made up of a group of Brothers that had fled the Alsace region of France in 1871 under fear of Germany's annexation. Most of the Brothers eventually worked under the tutelage of Emile Galle, where they produced superb quality cameo and acid-etched art glass, the Brothers came from a long line of glass makers, always refining and innovating. at Muller Freres they transferred this knowledge to stunning pieces, such as this one, operating from 1905 until the 1930s, Muller Freres specialised in the Art Nouveau style that was so prominent at the time, becoming the pre-eminent glass Studio in France, the family Company quickly became renowned for their quality and innovation, with pieces featuring in the finest American homes.
