Leather bound book dated from 1830 from the library of Captain Willett of the Government Barque 'Lady Franklin'. Book has been bound in Hobart Town by G Rolwegan (worked Hobart Town 1842-1860) Owners name 'Wm Willett Franklin' in ink on frontpiece. on the 28 Dec 1853 Capt Willett was in command of the ship travelling from Hobart to Norfolk Island with a party of convicts. That night the ship was seized by the convicts who had escaped from the hold. Capt Willett sustained some injuries but lived to tell the tale. further details of this remarkable incident on attached copy newspaper report dated 27 Jan 1854
