An Australian silver gilt mounted emu egg maker's mark William Edwards, Melbourne, circa 1870, the egg with frond and emu finial above supported horizontally by a standard of twin overlapping palm trees set upon a naturalistic surround with applied crocodile figure below, together with a glass dome and ebonised base, the mounted egg 23 cm high.
