A carved white jade of Maitreya Buddha and a child, 19th/ 20th century, carved from a pale and creamy stone of very even tone with only a minor area of white inclusion, the Maitreya Buddha with a humorous smile, wearing a long flowing robe that reveals his chest and belly, the child climbing over the Buddha's knee, both against a large lotus leaf. 9 cm high
