Description:
A fine Chinese white jade figure of a boy, 17/18th century, Qing Dynasty. Standing with both arms raised in a wrap around jacket and long loose pants, his legs slightly bent, the details well rendered, the stone with a good even polish. 5.9 cm high. Provenance: Delaney's Auctions, Detroit, USA (from a private collection; by repute). Jessica Rawson 'Chinese Jade From the Neolithic to the Qing', discusses a group of jade carvings of young boys with large rounded heads and hair tied in bunches and compares them with stylistically similar 17th century bronze weights, no 27; 2 and 3
