A Chinese archaic lead-glazed 'Hill' jar and cover, 206BCE-6ACE, Western Han, with mountain-form cover, the body moulded with a continuous hunting scene, iridescent green glaze, supported on three bear-form feet. 22.5 cm high, 19 cm diameter. Provenance: Apsara Asian Art, Sydney. See 'The Ceramic Art of China', the Victoria and Albert Museum, 1971, pl 14, p21; Pl 23, p36 for a very similar Tang Dynasty example
