Description:
A Japanese carved ivory tachi-gata okimono Meiji Period (1868-1912), possibly signed Gyokumin, carved as a miniature pedestal lantern with a reticulated segment centrally, the whole with a stippled and stained surface and overlaid with creeping ivy leaves and fungi sprouts, to the base three monkeys are at play while tiny birds flutter above, contrasted against an unstained base carved with termite holes, incised signature to base, (some minor losses and restoration) 17.5 cm high.
