Description: A Collection of Articles Related to Archbishop Harrington Clare Lees (1870-1929) – Archbishop of Melbourne 1921 - 1929. 1: A fine Robert Prenzel carving of a Kookaburra on a tree stump. Small scuff to beak otherwise fine example. 26.5 cm. Marked to base with tag ‘Robt. Prenzel, Art Woodmaker. Corner Toorak & Punt Roads, South Yarra’. Prenzel is considered by most to be Australia's premier carver. 2: A ceremonial wooden gavel, the base of the handle with a sterling silver plaque, ‘Enthronment, Archbishop of Melbourne, 15.2.22.’ Handle made of Tasmanian blackwood. 3: A small sterling silver ceremonial trowel, wooden handle, overall length of 6 cm Tasmanian blackwood for handle. Inscribed, ‘Presented to His Grace the Archbishop of Melbourne to lay the foundation stone of Christchurch Chamber 18.2.25 Geeelong.’ Stamped to base Hammerton Stg Silver. 4: Epns models, a kangaroo and a kookaburra, 9 cm each, made ty Stewart Dawson in Australia and marked with a phoenix trade mark. 5: A heavy Epns napkin ring enameled with the Archbishop's coat of arms. 6: A leather wallet, gold stamped ‘Archbishop of Melbourne.’ 7: A small Jewellery box gold stamped ‘Archbishop of Melbourne.’ 8: Two small vestment embroidered linen runners.
