He is wearing a model 1850 foot officer's sword, Photographer's backmark Washington DC, Pencil Id on back Captain Littlefield of Maine, superb Image. A sitting 3/4 studio view of a full bearded officer wearing a double breasted frock coat with belt and buckle. Identified as Colonel Thomas Roberts commanded the 17th Maine Volunteer infantry, unit 3rd June 1863 when he resigned due to ill health
