Description:
Anglo-Indian Table, India, c. 1830. Anglo-Indian tilt-top centre table of carved and pierced padouk (wood-type similar to Rosewood), having an octagonal top with foliate carving contained within a beaded border, overhanging and scalloped apron with intricate carved scrolling flowers, birds and foliate, the base with carved beasts and animals amid foliate designs, Bombay or Goa. Height 71 cm. Note: One snakehead is missing, one requires re-gluing and a little piece of the edge of the frieze is missing. Provenance: Once in the possession of an English Medical Officer working for the British Army in India, c. 1830s.
