Description:
A collection of cloisonne, Meiji period circa 1910, the first of squat shape featuring a line of eight silver young egrets in red on a nanako ground and gin-bari technique, incised seal mark of Ota Jinnoei to base; the second, of baluster shape with an egret motif in pale blue, red and green enamels on a gin-bari ground variation, (minor hairlines on the shoulders), attributed to Ota Jinoei; the third, baluster shaped vase with thin neck and flared mouth in gin-bari style with irises, butterflies and rinpa style clouds, signed with stamped monogram, artist unknown but similar to some of Kumeno Teitaro's work. Akasuke or red enamelling is believed to have been invented around 1880 by Ota Jinnoei and Honda Yosaburo (Coben and Ferster, Japanese cloisonne, 1982, p.132) ' (3)
