A Sentoku bronze vase Signed Iida with seal, early 20th century Exceptional quality and of tall oviform shape, with Inlaid iro-e (coloured inlay) and silver hirazogan (low relief inlay) depicting a group of three Manchurian cranes, engraved feather details, 28 cm high. Note: in both Chinese and Japanese mythology, cranes were believed to live for 1000 years, and were a powerful embodiment of the wish for longevity and the wisdom gained through experience
