Description:
1936 Cadillac Series 36-80 Twelve Coupe (Lhd) (Restoration project) Coachwork by Fleetwood Engine no. 4110559, As the 1920s came to a close many of the producers of big and luxurious motorcars were developing multi-cylinder engines. Lincoln, Packard and Pierce-Arrow had twelve cylinder cars in the works, while Marmon and Peerless were preparing sixteen cylinder cars. Cadillac upped the ante threatened by its competitors by developing both V-12 and V-16 automobiles, in addition to the existing flat-head V-8 models in the catalog. The V-12 displaced 368 cid and was rated at 135 horsepower. By 1936, the V-12 was offered in two models, the Series 80, which stretched 131 inches between wheel centers and the Series 85, which rode on a 138-inch wheelbase. Both used semi-elliptic leaf springs front and rear, as well as hydraulic drum brakes at all corners. The only transmission offered was a three-speed manual. In the case of this Series 80 coupe, the new car selling price would have been $3,295.The 1936 Cadillac Twelve CoupÚ offered here is largely complete, with engine, drivetrain and other major mechanical components present. The bodywork is in poor condition but substantially complete, right down to the instruments and the seats. The tags identify this as a Two-Passenger CoupÚ Style Number 7057 and with body number 91. Sold strictly as viewed, the Cadillac offers great potential. No reserve.
