Engraved on the flask are details of a voyage from Glasgow to Auckland on the ship 'Argyleshire' under the command of Captain Tod. 'Glasgow for Auckland NZ/Sat. 2nd April 1870/ Gareloch Monday 4th/ Left Pilot off Ireland, Wed. 6th/ Off the Cape of Goodhope. Table Bay 15th June/ 15th July off South Cape Tasmania/ Friday 29th July 1870 at 6am N23A sighted the Three Kings Auckland NZ/ Arrived in Auckland Harbour Tuesday Aftn August 2nd 1870.'
