Description:
A John Dickson 12 gauge round action best quality sporting shotgun, serial no. 5389, double trigger split ejectors with 30' nitro-proofed to 1 1/8th ounce Damascus barrels with standard sunken sporting rib, the stock with typical straight hand style 141/2' at hand to the end of the high grade figured walnut stock with the addition of approximately 7/8th' pachmyr rubber stock extension. Barrels marked John Dickson & Son, 63 Princes Street, Edinburgh, the action marked John Dickson & Son Patent which alludes to the round action system. Patent no. 954. The gun is in excellent working order and condition overall with much slightly worn original barrel browning and a pleasing grey patina on the case hardened action tangs etc. Trigger guard tang is slightly worn at hand, gold inlaid safe behind top lever and gold unengraved escutcheon on stock. Some very slight rust speckling in some parts of barrel. Gun contained in its original oak and leather maker's case with gilt leather Dickson trade label, screw, cartridge extractor, ebony 12 bore chamber, cleaning brush, ebony two piece cleaning rod and cleaning tips, correct Mwjw Hawksley round oil bottle, round lignum vitae accessory box containing one spare mainspring. Set of contemporary chrome snap caps also accompany the weapon. The outside of the case had the original owner's name cut out and refilled with blank leather. One strap is broken. Overall, apart from some minor repairs to the lining inside, the case is in excellent order
