The Wallaroo Rugby Union Premiership Cup 1909, presented to the Best Individual Player, George Hansen. Displayed in the oak cabinet (970 x 350 x 350 mm) in which it has been housed for over 90 years. Provenance: By descent within the family. The vendor has provided us with the following information: 'My great uncle, George Hansen, who was captain of this premiership team, personally gave the Cup to me in 1962 when I was 14 y.o. At the time the Cup and Honour Cap [see following lot] were given to me, my great uncle told me that this was the last State Premiership game of Rugby Union played until after the end of World War I. My grandfather, Joseph Chaffey, also played in this Premiership game. (My grandfather and Uncle George were brothers-in-law - my grandfather being married to George's sister, Charlotte Ruth Hansen).' The Cup and cabinet are accompanied by some research material, reproduction photographs of Hansen and the Team, etc
