A Japanese black-lacquer armour by Yoshikazu, the cuirass signed Ashujin nakahachiman Minamoto Yoshikazu and dated, 1850, the helmet and menpo signed Minamoto Yoshikazu comprising a shallow momonari kabuto, with a heavy three-lame shikoro ending in large fukig'shi, signed on the interior Minamoto Yoshikazu, the front adorned with a circular wood m'date lacquered in gold and black with a mitsudomoe design; the menpo with a prominent chin, broad cheeks and hinged nose plate and fitted with a three-lame solid-plate yodarekake, signed Yoshikazu on the interior of the menpo; ni-mai yokohagi okegawa do signed Ashuji nakahachiman Minamoto Yoshikazu and dated, K'i sannen kanoe inu sangatsu kichijitsu (an auspicious day in the third month of 1850) and fitted with seven sections of five-lame kusazuri; chusode; shino gote; chain mail and plate haidate and shino suneate; one armour box and one stand
