An early 19th century Austrian ormolu-mounted alabaster, grand-sonnerie striking mantel clock, carved with the figure of a seated woman at a desk reading a book by lamplight, the title page engraved 'Allmanack 1824', on a plinth base, the 5 inch dial with enamel Arabic chapter ring and date dial with engine turned centre (hands lacking), the spring driven movement with circular plates with flat bottom edge, with silk suspension and rack strike on a pair of coiled steel gongs on a T-bar support. Height 40 cm
