A canton enamel censer and cover, Qing dynasty, 18th century, of rounded rectangular section, the sides decorated in 'famille-rose' palette with panels depicting lakeside and mountain retreats, alternating with birds on rocks and in flight over crested waves, and a temple among craggy rock formations rising from crested waves, all within blue dragon scroll borders and reserved on the bright yellow ground, the stepped shoulders with a frieze of bats among clouds and a blue-ground lotus scroll around the upright mouth, the domed cover pierced with similar bats and clouds around a central shou character within a yellow ground border of floral vignettes, the interiors enamelled turquoise, the base white, gilt metal swing handle and removable interior container; 14 cm wide, 11.
