Paul Storr sterling silver Table Centre the wide rimmed bowl with leaf and lattice decoration above three caryatid figures each holding a crossed thyrsus tied with a bow, the circular frieze with scrolling vines and flowers, triangular concave base. Mask and acanthus leaf feet joined by swags of flowers and fruit, engraved inscription in Welsh to the basket translates as 'a gift from Mr Ambrose Price of Llanobaiadr (?) together with a present of £2,550 to Thomas Peake Esq. on his skilful and successful efforts in securing substantial compensation (damages - wealth?) from the late Robert Jones, a leading citizen of London in the year of Our Lord 1809'.also engraved to the base: 'the gift of Mr Ambrose Price to Thomas Peake Esq.' London 1812 and impressed marks in Latin for Rundell Bridge and Rundell 29.5 cm height, basket 27 cm dia Provenance: The current vendor is a descendant of Thomas Peake, the bowl has remained in the family since being presented and has been passed down by descent
