An attractive 19th century Samson armorial porcelain tankard the tube-lined reserves typically hand painted with stylised flowers in bright enamels, the largest containing a lion and an ox decorated coat of arms in gilt and enamels, and incorporating the motto 'Esse Quam Videri' which translates 'To be, Rather Than Seem to be.' base marks. Height 13.5 cm. Diameter 12.2 cm
