Description:
1949 ChrisCraft Christopher Columbus Smith built his first boat in 1874 at the age of thirteen. It was not until 1924 that the name Chris-craft first appeared and not until 1930 before the name was officially adopted replacing the previous Chris Smith & Sonss boat Company. Chris-craft was based in Algonac, Michigan, though the Company which is still in existence today is now based in Florida.from the 1920s to the 1960s Chris-craft led all other builders in the production of wooden boats as the first mass producer of pleasure boats for the general public. Chris-craft vessels were much sought after not only for their stylish lines and looks but also for the build and quality of materials used.one of the most popular of the vast range of runabout and utility boats built by Chris-craft was the 'Sportsman', available in a variety of lengths, the most common of which was 22 foot.We understand that this 1949 Chris-craft Sportsman 22 foot has just had two owners from new, the last since 1994. 'Miss Kristhol' is in beautiful original condition with restored floors, brightwork, M series in-line 6-cylinder motor and gearbox. Practical and easy to use, it comes with a very rare accessory Bimini factory top and 'Iva' searchlight.Ready for immediate use 'Miss Kristhol' sits on a modern, purpose-built, four wheel trailer, and comes with a set of full boat covers. This ChrisCraft was recently used in a tourism Victoria advertisement as well as being of the same make as the boat in the film 'on golden pond'
