The tang signed in Japanese fashion: Chugoku Dairen Chen Chao-Po Tsuchinoe Tora Nen. One piece wooden pole covered with rayskin with alternate heavy vine plaiting; 4 copper bands each with 4 gilt rosettes except for retaining peg band; 'sea-cucumber' form guard in dark metal with nanako ground and silver butterflies; iron hirumaki. Scabbard of rayskin and vine plaiting with a bone tip.
