Description:
1879 (July 17) an important Bushranger document. A letter headed 'Confidential' from the Sergeant of Police to the Manager, Union Bank, Daylesford, Victoria, the letter gives the description of four men including Andrew G. Scott, alias 'Captain Moonlight'. It reads in part '...Who have left Melbourne in Company' and 'All are armed with revolvers and May try to rob a bank'. Four months after this letter was sent, Capt. Moonlight's gang robbed a store, following which they went to wantabadgery and after two shoot-outs, some of the gang members were killed. Capt. Moonlight was arrested, along with other gang members, tried and hung. Fine condition
