A 19th century French enamel portrait plaque, depicting a cavalier standing in front of an open window with his sword drawn, within a rectangular rosewood frame with stepped corners decorated with coral beading and ivory monograms to the top and angel profiles to the bottom with brass banding (minor losses), enclosed within a silk and velvet box, 15.5 cm wide, 20.5 cm high. Provenance: Purchased by the present owner from New Collector's Gallery Inc., San Francisco, in January 1966 (with original receipt).
