A pair of Komai style metal vases and covers by Ban Taz'mon, Meiji period 50 cm overall each of ovoid form, the copper coloured sides reserved with black ground panels gilt in low relief, one side with song birds among flowering chrysanthemum and peony, the reverse with a peacock beneath a flowering cherry tree, the base and shoulders with a lappet border of different diaper patterns, repeated around the high domed cover surmounted with a bronze figure of Shou Lao with his deer, signed in a rectangular cartouche on the front panels Dai Nihon Kyoto Ban Taz'mon Zo
