A large Laos standing Buddha, in carved, gilded and lacquered teakwood, from the vicinity of Luang Prabang, 19th century, the tall lithe figure with eyes half closed in meditation, the face depicting a serene expression with both arms penant by his sides in the OE 'calling for rain' posture, wearing a long flowing dhoti with a centre pleat and secured with a belt decorated with mica, standing atop a tiered square form pedestal, with incised inscription to the side panel
