George V sterling silver four part tea service, comprising teapot, twin handled sugar bowl and creamer hallmarked Birmingham, 1913, E&Co. (Elkington & Co Ltd) and a coffee pot hallmarked Birmingham, 1919, E&Co. (Elkington & Co Ltd), each of slightly facetted form, decorated with central ' Mg' monogram surrounded by foliate wreath, accented with bright cut foliate borders, the teapot and coffee pot set with wooden finials and scrolled handles, each set upon a stepped oval base, a/f (small dent to coffee pot), total silver weight 1780gm (including wooden handles), height of coffee pot 22 cm (4). Provenance: this sterling silver tea service and accompanying tray were used for a 21st birthday morning tea held for Queen Elizabeth II in 1946. Previously owned by the Mayoress of Pretoria, M.Giovanetti, then by family descent, private collection, Sydney.
