Description:
Two similarly-decorated Kerr & Binns Worcester porcelain handled cups of matching form, dated 1853 and 1858, the decoration attributed to Thomas Bott, Snr, of the same classical skyphos form and size, both exteriors cobalt blue ground with gilt rims, handles, and feet, one decorated to the front and reverse with oval cartouches decorated en grisaille with the head of classical figures in profile on a pink ground, the cartouches framed and linked with gilt laurel wreaths and swags, the interior ivory, the other cup decorated to a similar design but with the heads in white enamel on the cobalt ground, its interior cobalt, printed factory marks underside, each 7,5 cm high, 11.5 cm wide across the handles. Condition: two small areas of regilding to the foot, possibly regilded chips.
