Description:
A very rare Chelsea porcelain Meissen-style fluted rectangular dish painted by Jefferyes Hamett O'Neale, with figures and an inscribed obelisk in two landscapes, English circa 1752/3, red anchor mark. Provenance: Bought from Winifred Williams, London, May 1982. Sold Christie's London 14 May 2003 Lot 245 (17,925 pounds). Robyn Robb England. 2005 exhibition 16/06/2005 no 19 (22,500 pounds). Robert Burke collection no 10. Reference: Illustrated in English Ceramic Club Transactions, vol 3 Pt 4, pl, 86c, 1955. A related dish formerly in the Parkinson collection sold Albert Amor Ltd London Treasures from Toronto II 1994 pl.30. There also exists a dish of the same form and similar decoration where J.H Hamett O'Neale has disguised his own name within the script on the obelisk. 20.5 cm long 17.5 cm wide
