A Russian icon of the Resurrection and twelve Festivals, 18th century., in egg tempera and gesso upon wood panel, the painted icon of the Resurrection and descent into Hell with two central depictions of Christ within a mandorla, resurrecting from the tomb and standing on the broken gates of hell, surrounded by twelve auspicious festival scenes pertaining to the life of Christ and the Virgin, with Cyrillic inscriptions in church Slavonic to the margins, the panel with inserted battens to the top and bottom.
