A.I.F. on second medal, 945 Er-Wo.1. J.McKever. 12 Bn. A.I.F. on last medal. All medals impressed. As a member of 12th Battalion, McKever was amongst the first to land at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. Joseph McKever, ironworker, age 29, born at New Monkland, Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland ; Enlisted 10 September 1914 at Black Boy Hill, Western Australia, in 12Bn, with previous service of 12 years in Royal Scotch Regiment; to Cpl 16Sep1914; reduced to ranks 25Oct1914; Embarked 2 Nov. 1914 to join Mef; to Cpl 29 Apr.1915; to Sgt. 1 July 1915; Wia 3 Nov. 1915 shrapnel wound left side, at Gallipoli and to No.3 Aux.
